DNS Configuration for Booking Confirmation - SPF Set Up

If your clients have difficulties to receive Bookassist booking confirmation. Please read and follow all instructions below.

What is an SPF Record?

Sender Policy Framework (SPF) is an email authentication method designed to detect forging sender addresses during email delivery. By using SPF, you can specify which mail servers are permitted to send email on behalf of your domain.

Why is an SPF Record Needed?

SPF records help prevent spam and phishing by verifying the sender’s identity, ensuring emails from your domain are legitimate.

How to Find and Update Your SPF Record

  1. Check your DNS settings in your domain registrar’s control panel (e.g., GoDaddy, Namecheap, etc).
  2. Look for a TXT or SPF record starting with v=spf1

Adding Bookassist Domain:

Update your SPF record to include Bookassist:

v=spf1 include:_spf.bookassist.com -all

➡️ Usually, your SPF line won’t be empty as the one in the example above, it might have already some other domains added, this is very common when using some external email providers like Outlook or Gmail.

Combining SPF Records:

If you use multiple email providers, combine them like this:

v=spf1 include:spf.protection.outlook.com include:_spf.bookassist.com -all
