What is a Meal Plan?

A Meal Plan is an upselling feature presented in the early stage of the booking journey. With Meal Plan your guest can add Breakfast, Half-Board, Dinner, etc to their booking.

What can I do with a Meal Plan?

Meal Plans can be added dynamically based on the number of nights booked and the person booking.

You can offer different kinds of Meal Plans from Breakfast, All Inclusive, Full Board etc. It is up to you to customise these based on what your hotel can offer.

You can apply a Meal Plan to any package type. This means you can choose where you wish to apply your Meal Plans (e.g. To a specific room or a specific package). You can also assign your Meal Plans to an unlimited number of packages or rooms.

Multiple Meal Plans can be assigned to the same room or package.

Finally, you can make Meal Plans mandatory, ensuring the booker selects at least one.

Who can create a Meal Plan?

A hotel can create a Meal Plan in Bookassist's Extranet. Visit this page to find out how to create one.

How do I manage a Meal Plan?

You can set up Meal Plans from Bookassist's Extranet. Meal Plans apply to all guests and for all nights for that specific stay.

Why are Meal Plans good for my hotel?

As said at the beginning, a Meal Plan is an upselling functionality present in the early stage of the booking journey. Meal Plans increase your ABV (Average Booking Value) and in effect, your direct sales.

Meal Plans help you reduce the amount of packages your Booking Engine has. Instead of having Room Only Flexible, Room Only Non Refundable, and setting up those two packages separately with Breakfast included, you can simply offer a Meal Plan as an extra and reduce the number of packages by half.

They are also a great way to break the parity between OTAs and your direct website. By offering a better price on your website or a higher price on OTAs website, you give your potential booker a better deal for booking direct.
