How do I edit meta title, description and page URL?

These meta tags can improve click through rates and entice people to click on your link rather than the link of one of your competitors.

Your pages meta data will be used to describe what you pages is about on the SERP results page on google and other search engines.

Go to Section “3. Optimise Sales > Customise SEO”


This pages is very similar to "Menu & Pages" section as is show the structure of all the pages stacked vertically with second and third level pages indented. Simply toggle each page title to see the meta title and description.

Meta Title


SMART sites by default will populate the meta title of all pages even if the field is blank. The title format that is used is PAGE TITLE | HOTEL NAME | HOTEL CITY & COUNTRY.

PAGE TITLE : See 2. Manage content > Menu & Pages > Edit page : Page main title

HOTEL NAME : See 1.Configure your site > Property main info > Hotel name

HOTEL CITY & COUNTRY : See 1.Configure your site > Property main info > Contact details > City, Country

The title below is entered manually therefore overriding the default placeholder text.

There is a number to the right of each field to indicate the number of characters allowed. The descriptions entered therefore need to be short and concise otherwise google will cut them short in the SERP results.

Title - Max of 60 characters.
Description - Max of 150 characters.
Page URL - Max of 30 characters.


 

Meta Description


This field does not get automatically populated so page title content is used as a fallback if left blank. The text description should be a short summary of the page content in 150 characters or less.

Page URLs


It is important when creating a new page that this field is updated to override the default page URL automatically created.

Do not use spaces, underscores or special characters in this field. Simply use matching title keywords separated with a dash and use lowercase. eg. keyword-title-heading 


 

Placeholder Labels


Use the flags at the top of the page to switch between languages. As with the "Menu & Pages" section you will notice some fields have placeholder text (Privacy policy), that is provided as sample text or suggestions for possible content.

These labels are all translated to make it easier when creating content for multiple languages. Type in the field with the field (meta title, page url) to override the sample content text provided.

The Meta title default placeholder text will be replaced by whatever content has been entered for the Main Page Title : See 2. Manage content > Menu & Pages > Edit page : Page main title


 

Sitemap.xml


It can be useful to use the XML sitemap to view all live and active page URLS on the site.

Check the sitemap.xml page for potential duplicate URLs that will cause a 404 error - page not found.
