How do I enable HTTPS on my website?

An SSL Certificate is required as mandatory and is setup by us on Amazon Web Services. We can not offer an alternative or install certs from 3rd parties.

In order to migrate from http to https the client can do this by email or Via DNS.

  • By email (The certificate requires annual renewals)
  • Via DNS (Renewals are completely automatic and contactless)

By email (The certificate requires annual renewals)

They must do the following:

  1. Create the email address for so the cert request to be sent . We accept the following email addresses:

    • admin@your_domain_name
    • administrator@your_domain_name
    • hostmaster@your_domain_name
    • postmaster@your_domain_name
    • webmaster@your_domain_name

  2. We will send the SSL request. An Email will also be sent to the following three registered contact addresses in WHOIS:

    • Domain registrant
    • Technical contact
    • Administrative contact
  3. *They must approve the SSL Certificate.

  4. We will send the DNS details to point the old website to the Bookassist website. Read more

  5. The client must make the DNS changes.

*Important to know that the request expires after 3 days!

Via DNS (Renewals are completely automatic and contactless)

  1. The customer simply has to create a CNAME record (which we provide) in their DNS settings.
  2. Once that record is created in their DNS, we check that the certificate is approved and install it on the website.

There is no extra cost for this service as it is already included in the hosting fee.

If the clients is changing the domain name the process is the same as the SSL cert is with the domain, not the website.
