Updating Photos on Google My Business.

After signing in to your account go to the Photos tab in the left hand side navigation.

Photos should be added to the most relevant category eg Rooms, Exterior etc. It is recommended to have as many high qualities photos in each category as possible.
Note: Only photos uploaded by the owner can be edited - user images cannot be changed.

Important actions to take.

  1. Add New Photos and Videos.
  2. Check if images are listed within the correct categories.
  3. Check Identity Category for Profile and Cover image.
  4. Check Photos listed by Customers.

1. Add New Photos and Videos.
You can choose to upload pictures or videos from the Overview tab and then select the category OR select the category tab and upload the picture or video from there.

  • Click the + PLUS sign on top right corner
  • Upload Pictures or Videos.
  • Select Category. (Category selection is listed below under section 2)

2. Check if images are listed within the correct categories.

Click on the category tab you want to check and all the images with that particular tag will be shown.
If you want to change the category of a picture listed by you, then:

  • Click the Information Icon on the Top right corner
  • Simply select the correct category

Note: You can select just one category for each picture.
If you want to delete a picture listed by you, then

  • Click the Bin Icon on the Top right corner
  • Click Delete

3. Check Identity Category for Profile and Cover image.

These images will be showcased on most Google products you own as a profile image, mainly in Google Knowledge Graph, Google maps, local listing panel etc.

  • Profile photo: Help your customers recognize your business on Google. This should be a consistent image that you use across all platforms e.g. an external property image.
  • Cover photo: Showcase your page's personality. Adding a cover photo automatically sets it as your listing's preferred photo. This action doesn't guarantee it populates as the first image for your business, but it does tell Google you prefer to display this photo.
  • Logo: Use your official and most recent logo.

Always check that these images are correct as per your brand guidelines, and if you want to change or add another image, you simply have to follow Add photo guidelines as above.

4. Check Photos listed by Customers.
Customers or users can add photos to your profile and Google actively encourages this. While there is an option to Flag or Report any image listed by users which you consider inappropriate or inaccurate, there is no facility to edit or remove them directly.

If you want to Flag or Report any image, then
1. Select or open the image and click on the Flag Icon on the Top Right Corner

2. You will be directed to a new page of Google community standards.
3. State your reason for reporting or flagging the issue.
4. Provide your loginchanged text email address (used to access Google My Business profile)
5. Select the verification option to indicate a human input.
6. Click Submit.
