How does Rate Recommender work?

Rate Recommender is powered by a specific data algorithm which takes signals from each booker and based on these signals tailored rates are presented. Signals are based on the booker's behavioural, geographical and technological profile.

The signals which Rate Recommender will use are varied and Bookassist has considered data points such as Number of Guests (number of adults and children) Number of Rooms, Length of Stay, Lead-in Time, Browser Language, Mobile vs Desktop, Browser Locale, Traffic Source, Weekend vs Midweek Stays, Seasonality, Currency and Language.

Based on these signals the most appropriate rates for the booker are then presented within the Rate Recommender box at the top of the Choose Rooms results page.

Rate Recommender is displayed when there is a minimum of 4 room rates being presented. For clients which have a limited choice of room and rate types and the system will regularly display only 4 results or less to the booker, Rate Recommender offers no advantage as the Select Rooms results are already clear and well ordered, therefore, even if this option is enabled, Rate Recommender will not be displayed.

The best suitability of Rate Recommender for clients depends on the following factors:

  • Number of rooms offered
  • Number of rates offered

In order Rate Recommender can offer any rates to the booker, the system needs a minimum number of bookings (around 20 or 30) and should have been in the system at least 6 months.

Rate Recommender will prove most advantageous to those clients with multiple Room Cards being presented to bookers and to clients with multiple rates within these Room Cards.
